We See the Exact Same Sunrise

skirt, belt, and shirt (D.I.), hat (mom), flats (Payless)

No apologies for being a lazy teenager who can't match a bra to an outfit.  This was a good day.  Good news from a friend, started some philosophy courses, and went to the Utah Arts Festival.  It ended up pretty good all-around, which is how summer should be.
Title from the song "Sweetness" by Pearl and the Beard (which I love).

Oodles of TIME

Shirt (Old Navy, Savers), headscarf (Mom), opal earrings (birthday—I freaking love these), my new glasses (Jill Stuart—I sharpied out the name on the sides... I hate advertising on my body more than any other type), skinny jeans (stolen from sister), favorite white children's flats (Payless)

I haven't been doing too much this summer... but I continue to get up and get dressed in hopes of giving myself reason to get out of the house!  Between the reading of assigned books, cleaning the house, lazing around on Facebook, and listening to the Rocky Horror Picture Show soundtrack on repeat, I look awesome. ;-)
Anywho, I'm off for a walk!  Not being in the house, FTW!

"—a beautiful little fool..."

Please ignore my messy room.

Dress (mom), shawl/scarf (Mom's), earrings (permanently borrowed from mom), headscarf (mom), shoes (mom)

Apparently I get a lot of clothes when my mom cleans out her closet.

My faux-bob from the first time I dressed up.  This time, I used this 1920s style for long hair.  Definitely not as much of a pain!

This last year, my school held a Halloween literary characters costume contest.  I had a whole list of ideas, ranging from Junie B. Jones to the sisters from Wildwood Dancing, but I eventually settled on Daisy Buchanan from The Great Gatsby.  I ended up glad I did!  I won first place and got a $50 Barnes & Noble gift card, which I have used well to increase my happiness with books.
This year, my friend Stephanie gave me a pass for one free movie with her as a graduation gift.  (She's such a sweetheart.)  I wanted to see The Great Gatsby so badly!  Neither of us had a convenient time... but we finally went and saw it!  I couldn't decide what to do—do I fangirl? Do I fanwoman??  So I fangirled and dressed up in my costume again.  Of course, it was a Monday afternoon, weeks after the movie came out, so only about ten people saw my costume.

"I didn't really like that movie.  But I do like her costume."
"You can't like her costume and not like the movie! She dressed up for the movie."

This is why I love fashion.  It's totally worth the weird looks and comments.
I also was reminded of why I so loved F. Scott Fitzgerald's work—he made me hate it so well, which is what gives the work such extraordinary power.  It's hard to believe anyone likes The Great Gatsby, because it's supposed to be unlikable.  They admire it.  I love it because I admire it.
