"—a beautiful little fool..."

Please ignore my messy room.

Dress (mom), shawl/scarf (Mom's), earrings (permanently borrowed from mom), headscarf (mom), shoes (mom)

Apparently I get a lot of clothes when my mom cleans out her closet.

My faux-bob from the first time I dressed up.  This time, I used this 1920s style for long hair.  Definitely not as much of a pain!

This last year, my school held a Halloween literary characters costume contest.  I had a whole list of ideas, ranging from Junie B. Jones to the sisters from Wildwood Dancing, but I eventually settled on Daisy Buchanan from The Great Gatsby.  I ended up glad I did!  I won first place and got a $50 Barnes & Noble gift card, which I have used well to increase my happiness with books.
This year, my friend Stephanie gave me a pass for one free movie with her as a graduation gift.  (She's such a sweetheart.)  I wanted to see The Great Gatsby so badly!  Neither of us had a convenient time... but we finally went and saw it!  I couldn't decide what to do—do I fangirl? Do I fanwoman??  So I fangirled and dressed up in my costume again.  Of course, it was a Monday afternoon, weeks after the movie came out, so only about ten people saw my costume.

"I didn't really like that movie.  But I do like her costume."
"You can't like her costume and not like the movie! She dressed up for the movie."

This is why I love fashion.  It's totally worth the weird looks and comments.
I also was reminded of why I so loved F. Scott Fitzgerald's work—he made me hate it so well, which is what gives the work such extraordinary power.  It's hard to believe anyone likes The Great Gatsby, because it's supposed to be unlikable.  They admire it.  I love it because I admire it.
